3.6.2 Non-Transport Mode
(Anterior/Posterior

INJURY HAZARD:
• When chair is in the non-
transport mode: Patient
must remain fully upright;
Patient must never be re-
clined; Patient must never
be left unattended.
• The brakes should always
be applied when patient is
not being transported.
• The patient should be
placed in a fully upright
position with chair in low
height when transporting
patient. The patient should
never be transported when
the VIC is in a reclined
position.
Lock the caster brakes (Figure 3-1). Secure patient in sitting position with
restraints. Elevate chair to maximum height (Figure 3-4). Pull out on the seat
lock knob (Figure 3-22) to release lock. Rotate chair counterclockwise (Figure
3-23), until it locks into the non-transport mode (see Figure 3-21).
3.6.3 Transport Mode
(Lateral Position)

• The VIC chair is not in-
tended to replace a
stretcher or a gurney.
• The patient should be
placed in a fully upright
position with chair in low
height when transporting
patient. The
patient should never be
transported when the VIC
is in a recline position.
• When patient is seated in
the chair, the side rails
should be up and the pa-
tient should be secured
with restraint straps.
Pull out on the seat lock knob (Figure 3-22). Rotate the chair clockwise 90°
(Figure 3-24), until it locks into the transport mode (see Figure 3-21). Insure the
chair is locked in the transport mode (see Figure 3-21) before transporting or
reclining the patient. The green arrow label on the seat will be in line with the
green arrow label on the base (Figure 3-25).
