Care for handling
●
The in-the-earspeaker employs a thin plastic film in order to reproduce delicate sound. If this film should break, the
sound might be distorted. When you shake your head fleetly with your earspeaker on, or when you strongly insert
your in-the-earspeaker, the diaphragm (film) touches the fixed electrodes to make crump noise, but this is not a
failure.
●
Put the earspeaker lightly into your ear and rotate it a little to find the best point for rich bass reproduction.
●
If you feel pain in the ear, exchange the ear piece with attached smaller one.
●
Avoid using the earspeaker in a high-temperature and high-humidity place.
●
Dropping or throwing becomes a cause to shorten the lifetime of earspeaker. Careful handling enables you to use
it regularly over ten years or more.
●
When ear pads have become dirty, remove them from the main part and wipe them with neutral detergent etc.
We recommend cleaning and keeping your earspeaker after use.
●
If you assemble the attached headband (Overhead arc) to the SR-002, the wearing feeling is further stabilized for
mobile and prolonged listening pleasure.
Welcome to the electrostatic earspeaker world! Your new in-the-earspeaker is the most recent model inherited from
the world's first SR-1 earspeaker manufactured by STAX in 1960.
Unlike a general headphone, the earspeaker uses neither a magnet nor any coil resulting in no magnetic distortion.
Moreover, since driving force works on the whole oscillating object (film), its sound character is extremely natural,
and detailed musical nuance can be heard. Therefore, you can fully enjoy music even in a moderate volume level.
Now, in order to drive an electrostatic type headphone, a high voltage called bias voltage (from 500V to 580V) is
required. As you can see in the figure below, the bias voltage is supplied to the oscillating object still thinner than the
human eardrum. Two fixed electrodes are provided on both sides of the oscillating object, and the signal voltage
(AC) of 100V-200V is applied to the fixed electrodes. Therefore, there is no danger as long as it is used in the usual
way. However, we ask you not to use it in an extremely humid place or immediately after taking a bath. The SRM-
002 incorporates the circuit that generates bias voltage, and the exclusive amplifier circuit that amplifies a 100mV
music signal to 50V, and can directly drive the SR-002 earspeaker. The SRM-002 has the volume control for input
level regulation. Also, its high input sensitivity of 100mV makes it possible to be used with all audio and AV equip-
ment's as well as personal computers.
