3–24  INSTRUMENTS AND CONTROLS

WARNING

When the defogger is turned on, the
tailgate window and both outside
rearview mirrors may be hot. Do not
touch them.

CAUTION

•

When cleaning the inside of tail-
gate window, be careful not to
scratch or damage the defogger
grid and connector.

•

Do not use the defogger unneces-
sarily when the engine is not
running.

•

For SPORTS model, there is no
tailgate window defogger function.

DEFOGGER SWITCH (SPORTS)

*When the switch is pressed, the tailgate
window and both outside rearview mirrors*
will be heated simultaneously for approx. 12
minutes (if equipped with tailgate window
and the defogger of outside rearview
mirror).
Press the switch again to turn off the
demister operating.
*If you operate this function again within 10
minutes after completion of first operation, it
will approximately operate for 6 minutes.
*The defogger indicator ( 

 ) in the cluster

illuminates when the defroster is operating.

CAUTION

When cleaning the inside of tailgate
window, be careful not to scratch or
damage the defogger wires.
Do not clean inside of tailgate win-
dow with sharp instruments or win-
dow cleaners containing abrasives.

NOTE

In snowy condition, use this defog-
ger switch only after removing any
snow from the tailgate window.

NOTE

The defogger uses a lot of power and
can discharge the battery.

Do not use the defogger when
starting the vehicle or the engine
is not running.

•

Switch off defogger when tailgate
window is clear.
