shortening the handlebar width
Shortening the overall width to a smaller width than the minimum width listed below will void the warranty and any subsequent Crash
replacement is no longer possible. The widths listed below only indicate the width up to which the product is still drivable. As soon as
these minimum specifications are undercut, the product is not approved for riding at all!
Shortening the overall width of your SQlab aluminum and SQlab Carbon handlebars is possible, but it must be carried out in a different
manner depending on the material of each model:
SQlab Aluminium handlebars
SQlab carbon handlebars
The SQlab 3OX handlebars (aluminum) can be shortened using a finetoo
thed metal saw or a pipe cutter
(to max. 720 mm)
. After shortening, de burr
the handlebar end. The SQlab 3OX Trial Fabio Wibmer can be shortened
to max. 680 mm.
The SQlab 3OX Carbon and 311 FLX Carbon Handlebars can be shortened
using a finetoothed metal saw
(to max. 720 mm (OX), 700 mm (FL-X))
.
Please note the model 3OX Fabio Wibmer may only be shortened to max.
780 mm.
Warning
Even a short ride with one or more loose screws in the stem or on the addon compo
nents can damage the handlebars so much that they can no longer be safely used.
• Never cycle with loose handlebars.
Caution
• Note that narrowing the handlebar width may affect the riding and steering charac
teristics of the bicycle.
• Prior to initial use, be sure to observe countryspecific standards, rules and regula
tions that may require a minimum and maximum handlebar width.
Warning
When shortening SQlab Carbon handlebars, never use a pipe cutter such as those
used to trim aluminum handlebars. This would damage the reinforced carbon mesh
work.
• Use a finetoothed saw.
Warning
Do not make any changes to the handlebars other than shortening the handlebar
ends. In particular, no drilling, painting or any other kind of modification may be
carried out. Also remember that shortening the handlebars is associated with altered
steering characteristics. Therefore, until you have become accustomed to the new
feeling, do not drive in Road traffic or offroad. Only after complete familiarization
with the new steering characteristics the handlebars can be used in their particular
area of application in accordance with ASTM F2043-13/ DIN EN 17406.
