“Pitch” refers to the distance between the midpoints of each hole. The smaller the pitch,
the more holes.
Strainer systems 2, 3 and 4 can be combined with a variety of grates and bodies to form
specific sub-assemblies (sometimes also referred to as
“bucket traps”
). The choice of
which particular unit to use will depend upon the requirements of the application in which
they are intended to be installed.
A generic diagram of each strainer system is illustrated in “Specifications and Drawings”
below. Detailed data sheets for each particular basket trap assembly are contained in
Appendix 1 (see pages 13 – 29).
Here are some considerations involved in the choice of which product to use:
•
How deep is the slab?
•
Is the structural slab suspended or “in ground”?
•
Is a fresh concrete slab being poured or is it a “retro-fit” application?
•
Is a waterproofing membrane involved?
•
What size basket is desired?
•
Is a square, hinged grate preferred, or a circular grate?
•
Is there any topping or tiling being installed, and if so what kind of topping (e.g. tiles
or sheet vinyl flooring)?
