10. Lightly grease the inside of the Squid lens where the lens will mate
with the o-ring; this will ensure a smooth installation. Attach the
Squid lens and screw clockwise as far as possible so that the lens
meets the body of the Squid. Rotate the lens back slightly
anticlockwise so the rib sections on the housing and lens are aligned.
Inspect the o-ring to ensure it is in place and well-sealed. There
should be a dark black section of o-ring against the lens indicating a
good seal. If the o-ring is not a solid black line, or the o-ring is not in
its groove, unscrew the lens and reseat the o-ring. See “O-Ring Care”
for further discussion on o-rings.
TIP: The Squid o-ring system uses a piston seal. To help close the
unit, as you tighten the lens give a small push inwards when the lens
first meets the o-ring. This will help to seat the lens over the o-ring.
11. Before use, you will need to find the best location near your mobile
device to place the topside WiFi antenna. Once the Squid is
watertight, submerge it in water (a bucket of water or pool is
sufficient). The WiFi signal should drop out. Now, slowly move the
antenna around your mobile device until you get reception.
