List all salient points about each part of the equipment
Snap Hooks / Karabiners/ Swivels/
Maillons
Examine for damaged or distorted hooks or
faulty springs, debris in threads, Check that
all Connectors Karabiners and swivels all
function correctly. Open & Close Freeley,
Swivels rotate freely and all maillons can be
fully closed
Casing / Mechanicals
Check that both retractor casings are
complete feel for any brakes or damage in
the covers containing the retractors. External
damage to the covers may also indicate
internal damage. Check that the retractors
lock when given a sharp pull and then release
when the webbing is allowed to retract.
Webbing
Check all webbing for signs of damage.
This could be cuts, burns, abrasions or
contamination. Make sure the webbing can
be fully extended and retracted without any
issues.
Sewing
Examine for broken, cut, loose & worn threads
Label
Check the label is present and legible. Check
the date to insure the product is still within
its life span. If needed refer to the record of
examination for further information
Connection to Harness
Check that the Maillon is connected to the
rear D of the harness and all the Velcro tabs
are closed correctly. This may be a buddy
check.
