Check this area.

10. Press the 

[EXEC]

 button.

“SY (VA) FIRM UPDATE..” is displayed on the

upper part of LCD and the progress status is displayed
by “>>>” on the lower part of LCD.

11. When “POWER OFF PLEASE” is displayed, turn off

the power.

When performing the version upgrade of the other
CPU after this, perform the procedure from step 3

again.

12. After completing the version upgrade, perform the

master reset. (Refer to Section 2-4.)

Procedure after completion of version upgrade

1.

Start the service mode. (Refer to Section 2-1-1.)

2.

Check that the version is upgraded on the screen.

Upgrading the two CPU’s at the same time

VA and SY can be upgraded sequentially by selecting ALL

in the VERSION UP menu and pressing the 

[EXEC]

button. In this case, place both DM179AP.VUP and

PNX179AP.VUP in the root of the Memory Stick. When
only one of them exists, the upgrade will be performed

only with the existing file.

2-5-1. Version Upgrade

The two CPU’s are mounted in this unit. Perform the
version upgrade as required.

After replacing the MA-142 board or IC910 on the MA-

142 board, be sure to perform the version upgrade.
When replacing the MA-142 board:

Perform the version upgrade using both DM179AP.VUP
(SY) and PNX179AP.VUP (VA) version upgrade files.

When replacing IC910 on the MA-142 board:
Perform the version upgrade using the DM179AP.VUP

(SY) version upgrade file.

Never turn off the power during version upgrade.

Otherwise, this unit may not start up. In such a case,
restore this unit according to Section 2-5-2.

Version upgrade

1.

Insert the Memory Stick in the personal computer.

2.

Copy the required version upgrade file to the root of

Memory Stick.

3.

Check that the power of this unit is turned off.

4.

Open the front panel of this unit and remove the cover
on the right side of the ribbon loading slot, and then

insert the Memory Stick.

After inserting the Memory Stick, attach the cover and
close the front panel.

5.

Start the service mode. (Refer to Section 2w-1-1.)

6.

Move the cursor to SVC1 using the 

[(]

 button.

7.

Move the cursor to SVC3 using the 

[*]

 button.

8.

Select “VERSION UP” using the 

[(]

 and 

[)]

 buttons.

9.

Select the item using the 

[&]

 and 

[*]

 buttons.
