Installation
This document provides instructions for removing and installing the
NS
a
Built-in Storage Module in your NSa appliance. The storage
module must be installed in the M0 slot on the back of your NSa
appliance. There is no need to power down the appliance.

Removing the Defective NS
a
Built-in Storage
Module
To remove a defective NSa Built-in Storage Module unit from the NSa
appliance:
1
Remove the seal covering the torx screw (left side) in the M0 slot
on the back.

Remove the torx screw holding the NS
a
Built-in Storage Module
unit in place.
3
Loosen the right thumb screw in the M0 slot.
4
Grip the thumb screw and pull the unit free.
5
Slide the unit out of the appliance.
Installing NS
a
Built-in Storage Module
To install the new NSa Built-in Storage Module unit in the NSa
appliance:
1
Remove the new storage module from the shipping package.
2
Remove the M0 face plate and defective storage module.
3
Insert the new storage module into the empty slot, label side up.
4
Press the storage module firmly into place to seat the connectors.
5
Tighten the right thumb screw by pushing in and turning to the
right.
6
Insert and tighten the torx screw with the torx tool that shipped
with the unit.
7
Apply the new seal provided so that it covers the left torx screw on
the M0 slot.
CAUTION:
The NS
a
Built-in Storage Module contains parts and
assemblies susceptible to damage by electrostatic discharge
(ESD). To prevent damage, handle the module using standard
ESD procedures such as storing it in an electrostatic bag and
handling it only while grounded.

NOTE:
A torx tool is shipped with the replacement NS
a
Built-in
Storage Module.
CAUTION:
Do NOT insert anything except the NS
a
Built-in
Storage Module into the slot labeled for the module (M0). The
module is not designed to fit in the M1 slot.
IMPORTANT:
Be sure to apply the FIPS sticker properly to ensure
warranty protection for the appliance with the new NS
a
Built-in
Storage Module.
