Check  that  the  m eter  needle  is  near  the  red  mark  during  tra n s m ittin g .  Talk 

into  the  microphone.  The  m eter  needle  shall  move  a  litt le .   Release  the  trans­

m it  button  and  sw itch  the  channel  selector  to  channel  1,2  etc.  until  you 

receive  a  station.

Wait  u n til  th is   s ta tio n   stops  to  tra n s m it  and  turn  the  Squelch  control  slowly 

to  max. 

U n til 

the  background  noi.se  just  disappears.  When  the  station  Starts 

to  tra n s m it  again,  you  w ill  hear  th is   statio n,  but  you  w ill  not  hear  the  back 

-ground  noise  during  non  tra n s m ittin g   periods.

OPERATING  INSTRUCTO NS

The  transce ive r  is  ready  to  operate  when  it   is  in sta lle d 

w ith   an  antenna 

properly  connected.  Note  that  the  com m unication  range  d iffe rs   depending  upon 

the  environm ent  where  the  transceiver  is  operated.

You  may  reach  30  or  40  kilom ete rs  where  no  obstacle  exists,  but  the  range 

may  be  lim ite d   to  5  or  6  kilom ete rs  in  c itie s   where  many 

high 

buildings 

distu rb  the  com m unication.

1)  Turn  the  set  on  by  sw itching  the  LOW  CH-OFF-HIG H  CH.  snap  sw itch  to 

the  desired  channel  range  and  the  channel  dial  w ill  be  lighted. 

Turn 

the  volume  control  clockwise  to  increase  the  audio  sound.  Note  that  the 

volume  control  knob  is  only  for  adjusting  the  audio  volume,  not  to   in 

crease  the  tra n s m ittin g   power.

2)  Set  the  DELTA-TUN E  for  best  réception.

3)  Turn  the  squelch  control  clockwise  u n til  incom ing  noise  is  elim inated.  Do 

not  turn  it   excessively  as  the  s e n s itiv ity   may  be  reduced.

4)  Turn  the  squelch  control  counter-clockw ise  to  sw itch  o ff  the  ANL 

(A utom atic  Noise  L im ite r).

5)  Turn  the  channel  selector  knob  to  the  desired  channel.

6)  For  tra n s m ittin g ,  press  the  button  on  the  microphone  and 

speak 

into  it  

norm ally.  Release  the  button  fo r  receiving.

M E T E R

The  m eter  reading  indicates  the  signal  strength  at  receiving,  and  functions  as 

an  output  in dicator  at  tra n s m ittin g ,  and  the  m eter  pointer  should  be  w ith in  

the  red  zone  under  the  normal  conditions.

CIRCUIT  PROTECTION  INDICATION  LA M P

The  lamp  is  on  when  the  antenna  is  mismatched,  and  the  tra n s m ittin g   c irc u it 

w ill  be  eut  o ff.
