7.  Client Access Control

Two steps are required to add a client to a new or existing Multipoint network.

First, the necessary Base Station Information must be entered into a new client.

See your SkyWay 5000 Client User’s Guide for more information.

Second, the Client’s MAC address must be added to the Base Station’s access

control list.  To access the relevant web screen click on the

Management

 ->

Add Client

menu option on the Navigation Toolbar.

-

Client’s MAC

: This is the hardware MAC address of the client station

with which the base will connect. This can be found in the user interface

of the client station unit.

-

Description

: Type in any description that will easily identify the user of

the base station with the above MAC address (e.g. main-street-branch).

This is an optional field and can be left blank.

CAUTION

: Descriptions must be a single word only. No spaces are

allowed.

Once both Client and Base station have valid MAC addresses, a link will be

established.

Additions or changes to the Base Station’s access control list do not require a

reboot of the Base or Client radios.

8.  SNMP

The Skyway 5000 provides support for SNMP (“Simple Network Management

Protocol”) a remote management utility.   To configure a unit’s SNMP settings,

click on

Configuration

 ->

SNMP

from the Navigation Toolbar to display the

following screen:

Community Name

fields should be entered based on the configuration of your

SNMP Agent software.

Click on

Update

 to activate changes.

Please refer to the User Manual of your SNMP Agent software for detailed

information on establishing and managing units via SNMP.
