6.3 MEASURING DISTANCE USING THE STADIA
LINES
The stadia lines etched on the reticle can be used for distance
measurements.
1) Sight the staff, and count the number of centimeters, ,
between the two stadia lines. (Fig.6.6)

2) This number is equivalent to the distance in meters
between the staff and the instrument.
Example:
If the length ( ) is 32 cm, the horizontal distance from the
instrument center A to the staff B is 32 m.
