Optimizing Reading Performance
You can optimize the reading performance of your EA15 by adjusting
certain imager parameters. This section describes how to set these
parameters to achieve the best reading performance possible considering
the environment, application, and type of bar codes:
• Omnidirectional 2D/1D decode
• Linear 1D decode
Decode Mode
This parameter sets the imager decode mode to linear imager emulation
(1D) or 2D imager mode.
2D imager mode allows you to position the EA15 in any direction,
regardless of the orientation of the bar code, and perform a good read on
1D and 2D bar codes. The ability to read bar codes in any direction lets
you use a comfortable and ergonomic hand position. If you are installing
the EA15 in a mobile device, this mode can be helpful to the operator.
Linear imager emulation mode allows you to increase your decoding speed
while scanning 1D labels (similar to a laser scanner). But, you need to
position the aiming beam so that it falls across all bars in the 1D bar code
label. If you are installing the EA15 in a fixed device, you may want to use
this mode to maximize imaging performance.
