Troubleshooting, Adjustment, & Service
Mower Belt Replacement
1. Park the tractor on a smooth, level surface such as a
concrete floor. Disengage the PTO, engage the
parking brake, shut the engine off, and remove the
key.
2. Remove the mower deck (see “Mower Deck
Removal”).
3. Remove the belt cover for the PTO pulley (A, Figure
41).
4. Remove idler assembly (B) and mower arbor drive
belt (C).
5. Remove PTO pulley (A) and idler pulley (D) from the
belt cover.
To avoid damaging belts. DO NOT PRY
BELTS OVER PULLEYS.

6. Remove the mover belt cover to access the mower
pulleys (E) and mower belt (F).
7. Remove the old belt and replace with a new belt.
Route the belt as shown in Figure 41.
8. Check that the blades are positioned perpendicular to
each other (see Figure 42). If not, perform the “Check
Mower Blade Timing” procedure in the Maintenance
section.
9. Install mower belt cover.
10. Install PTO pulley, idler pulley, mower arbor drive
belt, and idler assembly.
11. Install cover for PTO pulley.
12. Install mower on tractor (see “Mower Deck
Installation”).
13. Run the mower under no-load conditions for about 5
minutes.
