For this example, you will need to enter the port 21 as well. Once you have entered the two
ports you can see them in the list of current virtual servers.
In this example our router has a WAN IP address of 170.112.169.78*, so if a customer wants to
access the FTP server located in our LAN from outside the network he/she needs to input
ftp://170.112.168.78
in a browser or use an FTP client application to open a connection to the
170.112.169.78. If your WAN IP Address is not a static one and it can change when the router
reboots or when your Internet Service Provider resets your connection, you will need to set
up a Dynamic DNS so that you will use a link like
ftp://homeftp.dyndns.org
and not the WAN IP
address to access your FTP server. Please check the question about how to configure
Dynamic DNS in my router to know how to achieve this.
*You can check your WAN IP Address in the submenu Administration Settings/System
Status and the WAN IP Address field of the Internet Configuration.
