CHANGING THE BELT
5.1 Isolate the machine from the power supply.
5.2 Remove the machine from the tank and place it on a flat surface where it is safe to work.
5.3 To change the belt (25) it will be necessary to remove the side plate (19) from the machine.
5.4 Release the belt tension by slackening the upper bearing (4) retaining screws and tensioning screws (24).
5.5 Remove the upper and lower bearings (4) and disconnect the brackets (21 & 16) from the side plate (19).
5.6 Remove the 4 screws retaining the side plate (19) to the tie bars and remove the side plate.
5.7 Disconnect the paddle (1) drive chain and raise the paddle assembly by lifting the arms (9) clear of the lower
roller.
5.8 It should now be possible to remove the belt (25) by sliding it sideways and off the upper and lower rollers
(11 & 12).
5.9 Position the new belt in place and re-assemble by reversing the above procedure, to tension the belt
correctly please refer to the belt tension section.
5.10 Belt life will depend on a number of factors including liquid temperature, abrasive nature of product
skimmed, run time etc. In general, a belt change is recommended every 6 months. Only Smart Storms belts must
be used as they are specifically designed for for maximum efficiency.
