Winching and Towing
Procedures
Warning
When towing,
DO NOT
drive onto a downward slope or
brake the towing vehicle rapidly.
Preparation For Winching or Towing
Parking Brake
Figure 2-12. Parking Brake
1- Parking Brake - The work platform is equipped
with a spring-loaded parking brake. When a drive
function is selected it is electrically released. In case
of an emergency or the work platform needs to be
manually moved, towed or winched, the parking
brake can be released manually. The brake MUST
be manually disengaged for pushing, towing or winch-
ing.
DO NOT
push or tow the work platform onto a
downward slope or pull the platform down an in-
cline towards the winch. The special procedure for
manually disengaging the parking brake is as follows:
1
Warning
DO NOT
manually disengage the parking brakes if the
work platform is on a slope.
Make sure that the work platform is on level ground.
Chock or block the wheels to keep work platform from
rolling.
To Release The Parking Brake Manually
Figure 2-13. Manual Brake Release
1. Manual Brake Release - Pull handle firmly outwards
away from brake then rotate handle counterclockwise to
“OFF” position. The work plat
form can be pushed, towed
or winched after the brake is rele
ased (Figure 2-13). When
pushing, towing or winching,
DO NOT
exceed 2 mph
(3.2 km/h).
DO NOT
push the platform onto a down-
ward slope or pull the platform down an incline to-
wards the winch.
A safety switch on the brake disconnects power from the
control system when brake is manually disconnected.
To restore brake and normal functions, the manual brake
release handle must be rotated downwards to “ON” po-
sition.
If steering the platform is desired while pushing, towing
or winching, an optional remote steering pendant (Sky-
jack part #121707) may be used.
