Lubrication (Fig. 32)
Lubricate the arm bearings with oil after 10
hours of use. Re-oil after every 50 hours of use
or whenever there is a squeak coming from the
bearings.
1. Disconnect the saw from power outlet.
2. Turn the scroll saw on its side.
3. Remove the two rubber bearing covers.
4. Squirt a generous amount of SAE20 oil
around the shaft end and bronze bearing.
5. Close the bearing covers and let the oil soak
in overnight in this position.
6. Next day repeat the above procedure for the
opposite side of the saw.
Motor brushes replacement
(Fig. 33 & Fig. 34)
The motor brushes wear with use. When they
require replacement, the motor will stop op-
erating correctly, fail to start, or cut in and out
during operation.
NOTE: Only genuine SKIL replacement brush-
es specially designed for your tool should be
used.
Required tool (not included):
Flat head screwdriver
1. Disconnect the saw from power outlet.
2. Remove the top motor brush cap and motor
brush, then install a new brush and the cap.
3. Turn the saw on its side.
4. Remove the lower brush cap and motor cap,
accessing them through a hole in the bottom
of the base. And then install a new brush and
the cap.
