TROUBLESHOOTING
Turn the main switch OFF and always remove the plug from the power source before
troubleshooting .
Problem
Cause
Remedy
Saw will not start
1. Power cord is not plugged
in.
1. Plug power cord into a functioning
power outlet.
2. Fuse or circuit breaker is
tripped.
2. Replace fuse or reset a tripped
circuit breaker.
3. Cord is damaged.
3. Have cord replaced by an
authorized SKIL service center or
service station.
4. Burned out switch.
4. Have switch replaced by an
authorized SKIL service center or
service station.
Blade does not
come up to speed
1. Extension cord is too light or
too long.
1. Replace with an adequate cord.
2. Low supply voltage.
2. Contact your electric company.
Excessive vibration 1. Blade is out of balance.
1. Discard blade and use different
blade.
2. Saw is not mounted securely
to the stand or workbench.
2. Tighten all mounting hardware.
3. Arbor nut is not tight.

the blade”.
Brake does not
stop blade in
approximately 10
Seconds.
1. Brushes not seated or lightly
sticking or worn.
1. Inspect/clean or replace brushes
(see maintenance and lubrication
section).
2. Motor overheated from use
of dull blade/too heavy of
a blade, not recommended
accessory or rapid on/off
cycling.
2. Use sharp blade, use a
recommended blade or let saw
cool down.
3. Blade bolt loose.
3. Tighten blade bolt.

4. Have switch replaced by an
