Before disposing of waste, strew 1 cup (included) of the biological waste strewing bran evenly across the strainer in
the bin.
Cut larger pieces of waste into smaller pieces before putting them in.
Put the waste into the composter.
Use the enclosed mashing utensil to compress the waste.
Add another cup of bran before adding a new layer of waste. For larger quantities of waste, add more bran. We
suggest the use of 1 measuring cup for every 5cm of waste.
Cover the Bokashi Organko composter with the lid and check that it is sealed. The composter has to remain closed at
all times. It should only be opened when disposing of waste.
Drain the fermentation fluid every 3–5 days. CAUTION! When used for the first time, fermentation liquid will form
after 14 days.
When the composter is full, empty the waste mass into the biological waste bin. CAUTION! The waste will not change
visually as it decays 3–5 weeks after having been disposed of.
FOR USERS OF THE COMPOSTING SET
If you use the Bokashi Organko composting set, strew 2 cups of biological waste bran across the waste after
completely filling the first composter.
Close the composter, make sure that it is sealed and do not open it for at least 14 days.
During the process, drain the fermentation fluid every 3–5 days.
Then bury the waste mass into the ground or in dispose it on the compost.
We assure you successful use of the Bokashi Organko, if you consider the following steps. Before the first use, check if the
tap is facing towards the “CLOSE” sign. First, insert the strainer into the Bokashi Organko. 1 cup contains 20ml of strewing
bran. When using the microorganisms in different packaging, please follow the manufacturer’s instruction.
THE FERMENTATION PROCESS PRODUCTS
FERMENTATION FLUID
Fermentation is a natural process of decomposing biological waste with microorganisms without any unpleasant odours. The
waste is decomposing and does not decay, thus it retains all the vitamins and minerals. In order to achieve such a process,
it is necessary to add strewing bran (also globally known as Bokashi) every time you add a new layer of waste into the
Bokashi Organko composter, which decomposes all the waste, as well as some pesticides and other harmful substances into
environment-friendly elements.
UNDILUTED
fluid is suitable for maintaining clean drains and septic tanks sanitation. Fluid
DILUTED
with water is a useful
nutrient for watering indoor and garden plants.
1: 100 (1dl of liquid per 10l of water) for watering plants once a week or less often
1: 200 (1dl of liquid per 20l of water) for frequent daily watering of plants (several times a week)
BASIS FOR FIRST CLASS COMPOST
The presence of natural microorganisms in an ecological strewing for the biological waste separation triggers a fermentation
process in the compost, whereby biological waste keeps all the important nutrients, vitamins and minerals. Some pesticides
and other harmful compounds decompose into environment-friendly materials. The mixture of fermented biological waste
represents a first-class basis for the further preparation of compost suitable for food production.
STREWING BRAN FOR BIOLOGICAL WASTE
TAP
Pour water into an empty composter, turn the tap towards
the “OPEN” sign and drain the water through the tap. When
the water flowing through the tap, is no longer coloured,
close the tap by turning it towards the “CLOSE” sign.
COMPOSTER
It is recommended to rinse the Bokashi Organko composter
for biological waste, the lid and the tap under running
water without any cleaning agents, as they may destroy
the effective microorganisms and natural environment
inside the composter.
MAINTENANCE
The natural biological waste strewing bran (known under the name Bokashi)
is a mixture of bran, mixed with molasses (sugar and water), enriched
with useful microorganisms (lactic acid bacteria, yeasts, photosynthetic
organisms, actinomycetes and enzymatically active mushrooms), which
initiates the fermentation process and prevents the decay of waste in
the Bokashi Organko biological waste composter. After the fermentation
process has finished, the biological waste retains all the important nutrients
(especially nitrogen), which would have disappeared during the decay.
Fermented biological waste is the basis for first class compost.
Additional strewing bran can be
purchased separately on our website
www.skaza.com
and in all big shopping
centres.
CAUTION!
The mixture of waste in the Bokashi
Organko composter for biological waste
and the fermentation fluid are not
suitable for consumption!
