Adjusting the bevel angle
Refer to Fig. IV
1.
Loosen the Bevel Angle Knob (21). The Base Plate (11) will
now be free to pivot
2.
Select the angle required (0-45°), using the Bevel Angle
Guide (22)
3.
Tighten the Bevel Angle Knob
Note:
To ensure accuracy, the angle between the Blade and the Base Plate
should be checked using a suitable protractor.
Adjusting the cutting depth
Refer to Fig. V
1.
Loosen the Depth Locking Knob (24). The Base Plate (11) is
now free to adjust
2.
Adjust the Base Plate to the required cutting depth using
the Cutting Depth Guide (25)
3.
Tighten the Depth Locking Lever firmly, to lock the Base
Plate into position
Note:
When set correctly, less than a full tooth of the Blade should be
visible below the workpiece.
Fitting the parallel guide
It is possible to do a cut parallel to the edge of the workpiece by installing
the Parallel Guide (28) on the Base Plate (11).
Refer to Fig. VI
1.
Loosen the Parallel Guide Adjustment Knob (9)
2.
Insert the Parallel Guide into the Parallel Guide Mounting
Slots (10) and adjust to the required distance
3.
Tighten the Parallel Guide Adjustment Knob
4.
Check the Parallel Guide is secure
Dust extraction
•
For a cleaner, safer work environment, and to protect the
tool from dust and over-heating, connect a dust extraction
system or workshop vacuum cleaner to the Dust Extraction
Port (4)
Operation
WARNING:
ALWAYS wear appropriate safety equipment. Use of this
tool requires eye protection, gloves, ear defenders, and good quality
respiratory protection.
WARNING:
Ensure you have read and understood the Safety and
Before Use sections of this manual before using this tool.
Switching ON & OFF
1.
Hold the tool securely by the Main Handle (5) and Auxiliary
Handle (8)
2.
Ensure the tool is not in contact with the workpiece before
switching ON
3.
Press and hold the Switch Safety Lock (6)
4.
Squeeze the ON/OFF Switch (7) to start the tool
5.
Release the Switch Safety Lock
6.
Release the ON/OFF Switch to stop the tool
Making a cut
WARNING:
Use ONLY enough pressure to keep the saw cutting.
NEVER force the saw; allow the Blade (14) and the saw to do the work. Use
of excessive pressure that causes bending or twisting of the Blade may
cause the Blade to break.
1.
Hold the saw securely and rest the front edge of the Base
Plate (11) on the edge of the workpiece (Fig. VII (a))
2.
Check that the Blade is not in contact with the workpiece,
or any other object
3.
Switch the tool ON and allow to reach full speed
4.
Retract the Blade Guard (13) (Fig. VII (b)) just enough to
allow the blade to engage with the workpiece
5.
Move the saw forward until the blade starts cutting and
release the Blade Guard
6.
Push the saw smoothly forward, across the workpiece (Fig.
VII (c))
7.
Maintain a steady movement and ensure the Base Plate is
kept pressed against the workpiece
NOTE
: The front edge of the Base Plate features a Guide Notch (20).
For normal cutting align the notch marked ‘0˚’ with the intended
cutting line; for 45˚ bevel cutting align the notch marked ‘45˚’ with
the cutting line (Fig. VIII).
8.
Allow the Blade to pass through the material and release
the ON/OFF Switch (7).
WARNING:
If the cut does not reach the edge of the workpiece,
release the ON/OFF Switch and allow the Blade to stop moving before lifting
out of the cut
WARNING:
Remove the Battery (1) and Blade when the tool is to be
left unattended.
Making a plunge cut
WARNING:
Plunge cutting is an advanced technique with higher risk.
Only attempt plunge cuts when you are competent and experienced with
this technique. These instructions are given as a guide only.
WARNING:
ONLY attempt the plunge cutting procedure in soft
materials such as wood, plasterboard and similar materials. DO NOT
attempt plunge cuts in metal or hard materials. ONLY use blades specifically
designed for plunge cutting. If in doubt, refer to the blade manufacturer’s
instructions.
WARNING:
Inspect both sides of the surface you are planning on
plunge cutting into. Ensure there are no foreign objects on the underneath,
or objects that could be damaged. Be aware of hidden pipework and cables
when plunge cutting into drywalls, ceilings or floorboards. If pipes or cables
may be present, switch OFF all electrical circuit breakers and shut off water
and gas supplies at the relevant mains valves.
WARNING:
Blindly plunge cutting into walls, floors and ceilings may
lead to serious injury and substantial property damage.
1.
Mark out the cutting line
2.
Adjust the Base Plate (11) to the required depth
3.
Position the front of the Base Plate on the workpiece so
that the Blade (14) is in-line with the cutting line (Fig. IX (a))
4.
Ensure the Blade is clear of the workpiece
5.
Hold the tool securely, ensuring you always have full control
6.
Switch the tool ON and allow the Blade to reach full speed
7.
Adjust the Blade Guard (13) to enable the Blade to contact
the workpiece (Fig. IX (b))
