2: Server Installation
Attaching the Outer Rack Rails
Outer rails attach to the rack and hold the chassis in place. They extend between 26.5 and 36.4
inches.
1.
Measure the depth of the rack (distance from the front rail to the rear rail) to ensure it
complies with the limitations listed in the previous subsections.
2.
Press up on the locking tab at the rear end of the middle rail and push the middle rail back
into the outer rail. See the placement example in Figure 2-3.
3.
Hang the hooks of the front of the outer rail onto the slots on the front of the rack. Use
screws to secure the outer rails to the rack.
4.
Pull out and adjust both the short and long brackets to the proper distance so that the rail can
fit snugly into the rack, reference
Figure 2-4 on page 15

5.
Hang the hooks of rear portion of the outer rail into the slots on the rear of the rack. Secure
the long bracket to the rear side of the outer rail with the M4 screws provided.
6.
Repeat the previous steps to properly install the left outer rail.
