7. Ensure that OK is selected (it is by default) and press <ENTER>.
At this point, SLES9 SP3 itself is added as a driver update. You will see the
following after several seconds:
“Driver Updates added
Service Pack 3
OK”
8. Press <ENTER>.
The “Please choose the Driver Update medium” window will again appear.
9. Eject the SLES9 SP3 CD1 CD and insert the SGI Altix XE Platform Update CD
into the DVD drive.
10. Ensure that “hda: CD-ROM, ...” is still highlighted and that OK is selected.
11. Press <ENTER>.
A window will appear that states the following:
“Driver Updates added
Intel e1000 Driver Update for SGI Altix XE”
12. Press <ENTER>.
The “Please choose the Driver Update medium” window appears one last time. You
are done with driver updates.
13. Press <TAB> to select the “Back” button and press <ENTER>.
A window will appear that states the following:
“Make sure that CD number 1 is in your drive.”
14. Insert SLES9 CD1 into the DVD drive.
Note: It is critical that you insert the SLES9 CD1 CD at this time. If you insert SLES9 SP3 CD1
or the SGI Altix XE Platform Update CD by mistake, installation will fail and you must
start over.
15. Now that your SLES9 CD1 CD is in the DVD drive, ensure OK is highlighted and
press <ENTER>.
From this point on, the installation process is normal.
16. Follow the normal SLES9 SP3 installation procedure.
Refer to your SUSE Linux* Enterprise Server documentation for help.
After the system has finished installing, network functions should be normal.
