Specific Problems and Corrective Actions
This section provides possible solutions for these specific problems:
•
Power light does not light.
•
Status light is amber, red, or blinking.
•
No characters appear on screen.
•
Characters appear distorted or incorrect.
•
Cannot connect to a server.
•
You have other network problems.
•
System cooling fans do not rotate properly.
•
Drive Activity light does not light.
•
DVD-ROM drive activity light does not light.
•
Hard disk drive activity light does not light.
•
DVD-ROM drive activity light does not light.
•
System boots when installing PCI card.
•
There are problems with application software.
•
Devices are not recognized.
•
Hard drives are not recognized.
•
The bootable CD-ROM is not detected.
Try the solutions below in the order given. If you cannot correct the problem, contact your
service representative or authorized dealer for help.
Power Light Does Not Light
Check the following:
•
Did you press the power-on button?
•
Is the system operating normally? If so, the power LED might be defective or the
connection from the control panel to the server board might be loose.
•
Have you securely plugged the server AC power cord into the power supply?
•
Remove all add-in cards and see if the system boots. If successful, add the cards
back in one at a time with a reboot between each addition.
•
Make sure the memory DIMMs comply with the system requirements.
•
Make sure the memory DIMMs have been populated according to the system
requirements.
•
Remove the memory DIMMs and re-seat them.
•
Make sure the processor(s) comply with the system requirements.
