Installation and commissioning of SolarTemp LC
3 Installation and commissioning of SolarTemp LC
ª
Select the installation location in accordance with the technical data.
When measuring high media temperatures it is possible that the ambient temperature at
the thermometer housing will exceed the permissible maximum value (+60 °C). This may
damage the measuring device.
ª
The SolarTemp LC functions irrespective of its installation position. Install the thermome-
ter with a minimum sensor immersion depth of 20 mm in the medium to be measured.
ª
The LCD segment has been optimised to a so-called 6 o’clock viewing angle. The best
display contrast is achieved if the viewing direction is from the front and below the normal.
As soon as enough light (min. 80 Lux) is available on the solar surface of the SolarTemp LC
the device start up. After start-up, the device at first carries out a self-test.
The display shows at first "-188.8" and then "U x.x" for approx. 8 s. After that the device
shows the actual measurement value. The operability of the temperature sensor is simulta-
neously checked. The first valid measurement value is available after approx. 6 s.
Measurement cycle:
The measurement cycle of the device is 3 s.
Reference measurement:
The device automatically carries out an internal alignment at a reference resistor bevor each
measurement. If the temperature value cannot be displayed correctly, e.g. through a short-
time lack of lighting, the device will work correctly after the next self-adjustment with highest
accuracy.
4 Display
The SolarTemp LC has a 3½-digit digital display. The microprocessor of the device perma-
nently checks the plausibility of the sensor signal. The exact temperature value can be read
from the digital display.
Error messages:
In the event of an error, the result is provided at the digital display:
•

Sensor error:
The sensor or the supply line are defective. If the device needs repair, it must be returned
to the manufacturer.
Effect of illumination level:
The SolarTemp LC display switches off when the illumination level is too low. The device re-
sumes operation when sufficient light is available again (

NOTICE
The high-quality solar cells are covered for artificial light. There can be a power loss if it
use for sunlight.
