Installation
This
Data Security Bay-64
only supports one secured hard disk drive.
Do not connect two hard disk drives to this controller.
The hard disk drive connected to this controller is only available if
the
Security Key
is inserted during
boot process
. You can remove
this key after Windows has completed booting and still have
complete access to information on this drive. On the other hand,
if the Security Key is
NOT
inserted during the boot proccess, the
hard disk drive will not be seen by your system.
Note:
Static Electricity Discharge may permanently damage your
system. Discharge any static electricity build up in your body by
touching your computer’s case for a few seconds. Avoid any
contact with internal parts and handle cards only by their external
edges.
Configuring the Bay-64
1. Remove the sticker on the buzzer.
Note
: The buzzer will make noise if a 1394 device, other than
the
Security Key
, is connected to the security key slot.
2. Set
JP1
(see figure 3) to enable/disable encrypt/decrypt.
3. Set
JP2
(see figure 3) to master/slave setting.
Note
: Make sure
JP2
is set to Master to enable encrypt/
decrypt.
Configuring the Hard Disk Drive
1. Always set the hard disk drive to master whenever you want
to encrypt/decrypt the hard disk drive.
2. Make sure you are starting with a new hard disk drive or
backup all of your data if you want to use an existing hard
disk drive.
Installing the Bay-64
1. Select an available 3.5" or 5.25" device bay for the Bay-64,
remove the cover plate from the selected device bay.
Note:
When installing into a 5.25" device bay, mount the
Bay-64 into the 5.25" adapter first and follow the same
instructions. See Figure 4,
