2.1
Microsoft IEEE1394 Hotfix
On some computers with Windows XP SP2 or Windows XP SP3 it has been observed that Windows does not
recognize the detach of IEEE1394b devices, like IFNs or RPNs. In the error case, the Device Manager of Win-
dows still shows the detached devices as to-be-present and accordingly also
X-Tools
can not recognize the
detach.
In order to solve this issue, Microsoft provides an according hotfix (958347). After the hotfix has been installed,
detaching of IEEE1394b devices is recognized properly again. The hotfixes for the following operating systems
are being delivered together with
X-Tools
(see the “Hotfixes” subdirectory of the installation media):
•
Microsoft Windows XP SP3, English, x86
•
Microsoft Windows XP SP3, German, x86
In case you are using another operating system or another language, please download the according version of
the hotfix from Microsoft directly:

Install this hotfix in case your computer does not recognize the detach of IEEE1394b devices correctly.
2.2
Number of connectable IEEE1394 Devices
The maximum number of devices which shall be connected via IEEE1394 is restricted to 30 participants.
2.3
Usage of IEEE1394 Cables
Do not to use cables for the electrical connection of IEEE1394 with a length of 0,5 m or with a length of longer
than 4,5 m.
2.4
Usage of multiple CTN WatchGuard T001
It is not possible to use multiple CTN WatchGuard T001 at once at the same computer.
2.5
Data Supervision Time for CTN WatchGuard T001 Devices
The data supervision which is configured within the Device Profile of CTN WatchGuard T001 devices must be
configured to 1.5 or more seconds.

Hibernation
Hibernation must be disabled at the computer while it is running
X-Tools
.
2.7
Storage on USB Harddrives
It is not recommended to use the disk clean-up types “Delete old Files” and “Limit used Memory” in combination
with USB HDD devices.
2.8
DirectX Redistributables
In seldom cases Setup.exe is unable to properly determine the currently installed version of the DirectX redis-
tributables. In case
X-Tools
is unable to use DirectX for the visualization within the Monitoring System, switch to
OpenGL via the Global Options or try to install the DirectX redistributables manually.
2.9
ION BinaryInput T001 and high Sample Rates
In case higher sample rates (> 50 kHz) are being configured for an ION BinaryInput T001, starting of the ac-
