LED for status indication of sender and receiver FO cable
A link integrity test has been defined for the 10Base-FL ports. To ensure that the link is active
in both directions, the 10Base-FL repeaters and the 10Base-FL terminal units send at
regular intervals link integrity signals to the opposite device, in addition to the actual data
signals.
LEDs
Six LEDs are provided to indicate the link status of each port. Two LEDs show the status of
the FO transmission, and two more LEDs indicate collisions and activity.
Col: Collision indicator LED (yellow)
The collision indicator LED flickers when a collision occurs.
Note:
A permanent flicker indicates an overloaded segment, a defective cable or a poor
connection.
A permanent shining LED indicates a defective cable or a defective network port.
Act: Activity indicator LED (green)
This LED shines when the repeater sends or receives data packets.
XMT: Send LED of Fibre-Optic Link (yellow)
This LED flickers when the repeater sends data via the fibre optic link.
Note:
If this LED remains dark although the FO cable is connected, the transmission is
disturbed due to a faulty link.
Rev: Receive LED of Fibre-Optic Link (yellow)
This LED flickers when the repeater receives data via the fibre optic link.
Note:
If this LED remains dark although the FO cable is connected, the transmission is
disturbed due to a faulty link.
