Project engineering
After installing the CP 5603 in the Microbox or in the mEC extension box and installing the
SIMATIC NET PC software, the next step is to configure the CP 5603 using the SIMATIC
NET PC software.
The remaining steps involved are described in the "Commissioning PC Stations" manual.

Note
The module is detected by the SIMATIC NET PC software CD as a CP 5613 A2. This
reaction ensures compatibility with existing applications.
Note
The “DPC2_data_transport()" functionality of the DPC2 protocol ist not permitted for CP 5603
as DP master and as DP slave.
This restriction also applies to the OPC DPC2 data transport items.
Displays of the status LEDs
There are LEDs on the active RS-485 module to indicate the status of the CP 5603. The
following table describes the operating states:
