Unlike most versions of MS-Windows, Windows NT 4.0 does not support
“Plug & Play” and “Hot Swapping” of PC Cards:

In order to start the driver installation for your PC Card, you will need to
“introduce” the card to the operating system.
•
To insert or remove PC Cards, Windows NT machines typically require
you to restart the computer in order to recognize the card and load the
drivers.
The Windows NT operating system also identifies user profiles (accounts)
that are associated with dedicated levels of authority (privileges) like the
ones listed below:

Users - are allowed to change the visual appearance of the Windows NT
desktop and user-defined preferences.
•
Power Users - can create “User Accounts” or “User Groups”

•
Administrators - can manage and control the overall configuration of the
workstation.
