Two Hard Disk Drives (optional)
Depending on your device configuration, two hard disk drives in 2.5” format are
built into SIMATIC Box PC 620. The slave hard drive is not setup in order to enable
data backup on this hard disk drive. Both hard disks are connected to the primary
IDE Controller of the principal module as master and slave. See the information
printed on the drives for their capacity.
Booting from the slave hard disk
Booting is performed from the master hard disk by default. It is however possible to
boot from the slave hard disk.
To boot from the 2nd hard disk, you have to set the 2nd hard disk as the primary
booting device. Please perform the following settings in the BIOS setup:
Select Boot > Hard Drive > <Hard drive–name> e.g. FUJITSU MHT2030AT–
(PS) and move the booting order upward by pressing the ”+”–key (PS) = Primary
Slave, (PM) = Primary Master.
Notice
The assignment of the drive alphabets to the partitions of both drives depends on
the operating system used. If applicable, adjust them in the Control Panel.
Notice
If one of the hard drives is defective, this may block the IDE bus. In order to conti-
nue working with the functioning hard drive, you have to remove the defective one
from the IDE bus and if applicable, adjust the jumper settings of the hard drive
(setting to master; see the information printed on the hard drive).
