Before you connect the device!
Before putting the device into operation, make sure that you read the information in the
sections "Product properties" and "Installation" carefully and follow the instructions there,
particularly those in the safety notices.
Principle
To operate the SCALANCE S, you need to download a configuration created with the
Security Configuration Tool or STEP 7 as of V12. Configuration using the Security
Configuration Tool is described below.
Configuring a SCALANCE S also includes the following aspects:

Mode selection
●
IP parameters
●
Firewall rules
●
IPsec tunnel (not for S602)
Before putting the device into operation, you can first create the entire configuration offline
and then download it.
Depending on the application, download the configuration to one or more SCALANCE S
devices during the commissioning phase.
