The PL864-25S card supervises strobe power
with a relay that gives a contact closure. A
closure monitoring device can be wired to
terminals 11 and 12 of OMM-1 for strobe power
supervision.

If there is either an audio or strobe loss, follow
the procedure listed below:

1. Check the PLC-4 to see if the circuitbreaker

is tripped.

2. Shut down the system, determine what

caused the circuitbreaker to trip, and fix the
problem.

3. Reset the tripped circuitbreaker.

INSTALLATION

Remove all system power before

installation, first battery and then AC.

(To power up, connect the

AC first and then the battery.)

To install a PLC-4 card in an MXLV system,
follow these steps:

1. Install the PL864 cards into the PLC-4.

a. Determine which PL864 cards are to be

used. Typically, the audio portion of a
voice-equipped fire alarm control panel
is either 25V RMS or 70.7V RMS.

• Use the PL864-25A for 25V RMS

systems

• Use the PL864-70A for 70.7V RMS

systems

• Use the PL864-25S for strobe circuits

in any voice system.

NOTE:

The PL864-25S is not re-
quired for strobe circuits
connected to either the
CSM-4 or MMB.

b. Determine which circuits will be used.

Refer to Figure 1 for the location of the
circuits on the PLC-4 board and to
Figure 5 for circuit wiring.

c. Remove the PLC-4 card from its protec-

tive bag.

d. Remove the PL864-25A, PL864-25S, or

PL864-70A cards from their protective
bags.

e. Place the PL864 plug-on cards, one at

a time, over the connectors on the
PLC-4 card for the desired circuits.

1) Locate P1 of each PL864 card near

the edge connector of the PLC-4
card (Refer to Figure 1).

2) Press down until the card seats

properly. Apply pressure near the
connectors—not in the middle of the
card—or damage may result.

3) For systems with 70.7V RMS audio

circuits, take extra care when placing
PL864-25S cards for strobe circuits.

A mixup could damage system
components.

2. Place the PLC-4 card in the OMM slot.

a. Do

not

install the card in its edge

connector until

all

OMM field wiring is

completed and checked for shorts,
opens, and other faults.

b. Find the card slot key provided in the

installation kit with the PLC-4 board.
