Using the answering machine in the C 250
Base
The Gigaset C 250 has a built-in answering machine that records calls provided it is acti-
vated (default setting). It can be operated:

from the base,

from the handset (with voice prompts if available),
◆
from the remote control (with voice prompts if available).
The date and time of arrival of each message is logged if you have previously set this
function (page 15).
As well as the built-in answering machine, you can also select an answering machine of
your network provider (e.g. Deutsche Telekom’s network mailbox).
Definitions
Operating the answering machine from the base
You can operate the answering machine using the keys on the base in the idle status.
Explanation of keys
If the answering machine is being operated from a handset or if it is recording a mes-
sage, it cannot be operated from the base at the same time.
Message
Message that a caller leaves on the answering machine.
Memos
"Spoken notes" that you can record on the answering machine for mem-
bers of your family or office colleagues, for example.
Announcement mode Answer and record or announce only.
Answer and record
mode
The caller hears a pre-recorded or personal announcement and may then
leave a message.
Announce only mode The caller hears your announcement but cannot leave a message.
Pre-recorded
announcement
A preset announcement (standard text).
Personal announce-
ment
An announcement you record in your own words.

If you deactivate the answering machine but the On/Off key continues to
flash, this means that there is at least one
new
message on the answering
machine that you have not yet played back.
Adjust volume during message playback:

= softer;

= louder.
Playback/Stop Key:
Plays back messages from the answering
machine or cancels the playback.
Deletes the current message.
On/Off Key:
Activates/deactivates the answering machine.
Flashes as long as there is at least one new message.
Skips back to the beginning of the message (press once) or
to the previous message (press twice).
Skips to the next message (press once) or the next message
but one (press twice).
Registration/Paging Key:
This key is used to register hand-
sets and for the "Paging" function (page 75).
