Connecting the antenna
The RF interface of the GSM module must be connected, via one of the two supplied RF
adapter cables, to the Hirose U.FL-R-SMT connector X505 located on the PCB of DSB45.
Furthermore, in order to send or receive data, connect an external RF antenna to the SMA
connector X506 at the front of the DSB45 housing. For this purpose, you can use the
MiniMag antenna supplied with DSB45. The supplied cables are listed in Chapter 1.4. To
properly connect all antenna cables refer to Figure 1 and Figure 3.
To obtain optimum send and receive performance, a steel grounding plate (approx. 150 mm
x 150 mm) should be placed underneath the antenna.
Please consider that the supplied antenna equipment has been chosen to achieve optimum
RF performance when operating the GSM module at the DSB45. Siemens does not accept
warranty claims for damage caused by inappropriate equipment connected to the antenna
connectors.
If the recommended solution does not fit your application, [1] provides technical
specifications and ordering information to find an appropriate device.
