4. When a PC boots and asks for an IP address, the DHCP server assigns it an address from a pool of
addresses assigned to the subnetwork where the client request originated. To specify the start and ending
address range of the IP address pool, enter the starting address in
First IP Address
and the ending
address in
Last IP Addres

Note that a list of network clients that are currently leasing their IP addresses from the pool are shown in
Current DHCP Leases List
: From left to right, the following information is presented for each client:
•
Client IP
: The leased IP address assigned to the specific client.
•
State
: Whether the IP address is enabled or disabled.
•
Host Name
: Name of the host leasing the specific IP address.
•
Expires (mm/dd/yy)
: Date when the IP address lease will expire. At that time (if not before), the leased IP
address will be freed for re-assignment, and the network client will need to request a new IP address from
the router.
