The PLC and the MSTR2 Flexi Loop accessory communicate cyclically in a data frame
for process data:
Flexi Loop transmits 4 bytes of input data to the PLC. These bytes contain the status of
the non-safe inputs AUX_IN of the Flexi Loop nodes.
Flexi Loop receives 4 byte of output data from the PLC. These bytes contain the com‐
mands for the non-safe outputs AUX_OUT of the Flexi Loop nodes.

Flexi Loop transmits 4 bytes of input data to the PLC. The 32 bits contain the sta‐
tus of the non-safe inputs AUX_IN of the Flexi Loop nodes.
bit 0 = Flexi Loop node 32, bit 31 = Flexi Loop node 1
bit = 1 = non-safe input active, bit = 0 = non-safe input inactive

commands for the non-safe outputs AUX_OUT of the Flexi Loop nodes.
bit 0 = Flexi Loop node 32, bit 31 = Flexi Loop node 1
bit = 1 = non-safe output becomes active, bit = 0 = non-safe output becomes inac‐
tive
Response times
The pulse durations of the input signals from AUX_IN and the output signals on
AUX_OUT are longer than the original signals due to the signal propagation times in the
process image. The response time for the inputs and outputs comprise the following
components:
Propagation times for bits of non-safe inputs and outputs (
nodes and Flexi Loop accessories", page 81
).
+ transfer time IO-Link (cycle time x 2)
+ PLC process propagation time

Diagnostics information on the safe sensor cascade
The standard controller uses service data to poll non-safe diagnostic information about
the statuses inside the safe sensor cascade.
Flexi Loop connection status
The value in the index 275 (113h) shows the status of the communication within the
safe sensor cascade.
The value is 0 if the safe sensor cascade communication is interrupted.
The value is 1 or 2 if the safe sensor cascade communication is initialized.
The value is 3 or 4 if the communication in the safe sensor cascade is running.
The value is 6 if the safe sensor cascade is not terminated (missing terminator, open
safe sensor cascade).
The value is 7 if there is a configuration error (e.g. incorrect number of nodes) in the
safe sensor cascade.
Overall number of nodes
The value in the index 276 (114h) corresponds to the number of Flexi Loop nodes
found.
Safety controller status
The value in the index 277 (115h) indicates whether the signal from the safety control‐
ler connected is detected.
The value is 0 if there is no supply voltage on FC_IN.
