SET UP AND OPERATION (CONT’D)
produce arcs or sparks which can cause a fire or explosion - do not use at filling stations or
anywhere gasoline is stored or dispensed.
1. Refer to the filter installation and maintenance section to make sure the correct filters are installed for
your cleaning operation.
2. Replace tank cover. Make sure each latch or clamp is secured over the raised area
of the tank cover. Failure to properly secure the latches could cause the tank cover to
release from the tank.
3. Insert machine hose end with locking nut into inlet located in the front of the tank. Turn
locking nut to tighten. Do not over-tighten.
4. Attach the desired cleaning accessory onto the accessory end of the hose.
NOTE:
Many more useful tools are available at your local dealer or the Shop-Vac
®
website.
5. Plug the cord into the wall outlet. Your cleaner is ready for use.

NOTE:
This series of long-life motor vacuums include Electronic Drive with a “Soft Start” feature. These
vacuum motors take longer to come up to full speed than conventional vacuum motors. This is normal.
CAUTION
- DO NOT OPERATE THIS VACUUM ON A VARIABLE TRANSFORMER
(VARIAC) OR ADJUSTABLE SPEED CONTROL. DAMAGE TO ELECTRONIC DRIVE MAY RESULT.
AUTO RE-SETTING THERMAL MOTOR PROTECTIVE DEVICE
This feature protects the motor by shutting off the vacuum should a pre-set temperature be exceeded. This
condition typically occurs due to a restriction in cooling airflow to the motor. If activated:
1. Switch the vacuum OFF and unplug.
2. Check for a full filter bag or a clogged, dirty filter.
3. Check hose for blockage.
4. Clean or replace filters. Remove any obstruction from hose.
5. The Thermal Motor Protective Device will automatically re-set in approximately 15 minutes.
6. Plug back into receptacle, switch vacuum ON and continue cleaning.
