Section 2: Electrical Information

Electrical Requirements

Power Supply And Motor Specifications:

Warning: To avoid electrical hazards, fire

hazards, or damage to the tool, use proper

circuit protection. Use a separate electrical

circuit for your tools. To avoid shock or fire, if

power cord is worn or cut, or damaged in any

way, have it replaced immediately.

Grounding Instructions:

Warning: This tool must be grounded while

in use to protect the operator from electrical

shock.

In The Event Of A Malfunction Or Breakdown

grounding provides a path of least

resistance for electric current and reduces

the risk of electric shock. This tool is equipped

with an electric cord that has an equipment-

grounding conductor and a grounding plug.

The plug MUST be plugged into a matching

receptacle that is properly installed and

grounded in accordance with ALL local codes

and ordinances.

Do Not Modify The Plug Provided. If it will not

fit the receptacle, have the proper receptacle

installed by a qualified electrician.

Improper Connection of the equipment-

grounding conductor can result in risk of

electric shock.

Do Not connect the equipment-grounding

conductor to a live terminal.

Check with a qualified electrician or service

person if you do not completely understand the

grounding instructions, or if you are not sure the

tool is properly grounded.

Electrical Information

Extension Cords

Grounded Tools require a three wire

extension cord.

Double Insulated Tools can use either a two or

three wire extension cord.

As the distance from the supply outlet

increases, you must use a Heavier Gauge

Extension cord.

Using extension cords with Inadequately

Sized Wire Causes A Serious Drop In Voltage,

Resulting In Loss Of Power And Possible Tool

Damage. Refer to the table shown to determine

the required minimum wire size.

The smaller the gauge number of the wire, the

greater the capacity of the cord. For example,

1.628mm(14 gauge) cord can carry a higher

current than a 1.291mm(16 gauge) cord.

When using More Than One Extension Cord

to make up the total length, be sure each

cord contains at least the minimum wire size

required.

If you are using One Extension cord for more

than one tool, add the nameplate amperes

and use the sum to determine the required

minimum wire size.
