PRECAUTION S FOR U S ING LEAD-FREE S OLDER
1. Employing lead-free s older

When fixing the PWB s oldered with the le a d-free s older, a pply le a d-free wire s older. Rep a iring with convention a l
le a d wire s older m a y c aus e d a m a ge or a ccident d u e to cr a ck s .
A s the melting point of le a d-free s older (Sn-Ag-C u ) i s higher th a n the le a d wire s older b y 40°C, we recommend
yo u to us e a dedic a ted s oldering b it, if yo u a re not f a mili a r with how to o b t a in le a d-free wire s older or s oldering
b it, cont a ct o u r s ervice s t a tion or s ervice b r a nch in yo u r a re a .
3 . S oldering
A s the melting point of le a d-free s older (Sn-Ag-C u ) i s ab o u t 220°C which i s higher th a n the convention a l le a d
s older b y 40°C, a nd as it h as poor s older wet ab ility, yo u m a y b e a pt to keep the s oldering b it in cont a ct with the
PWB for extended period of time. However, s ince the l a nd m a y b e peeled of for the m a xim u m he a t-re s i s t a nce
temper a t u re of p a r t s m a y b e exceeded, remove the b it from the PWB as s oon as yo u confir m the s te a dy
s oldering condition.
Le a d-free s older cont a in s more tin, a nd the end of the s oldering b it m a y b e e as ily corrected. M a ke su re to t u rn
on a nd off the power of the b it as re qu ired.
If a different type of s older s t a y s on the tip of the s oldering b it, it i s a lloyed with le a d-free s older. Cle a n the b it
a fter every us e of it.
When the tip of the s oldering b it i s b l a ckened d u ring us e, file it with s teel wool or fine sa nd p a per.
Be c a ref u l when repl a cing p a rt s with pol a rity indic a tion on the PWB s ilk.
