The schematic shows it like this:
12 VDC can be taken from any point where it is convenient and the ground can be
connected to any convenient point that is connected to the chassis ground. On the 706,
the Q45 Emitter (shown above) turns out to be a convenient place to tap for 12 VDC
power and there are a number of caps in the vicinity with one side connected to chassis
ground.
