Stereo Microphone Techniques
ORTF (Near Coincident) technique
Use the cardioid capsules� This technique is good for recording dialog or
sound in stereo without picking up a lot of the ambient room noise�

Spread the microphones outward at an angle of 110° while
making sure that the capsules are about 6�5
″
(17 cm) apart�
•
Send the mono signal from each microphone to its own track�
Note:
Due to the timing offset of the sound reaching each
microphone, you may experience phase cancellation if
mixing the stereo signal down to a mono track�
