This manual describes Seagate Technology
®
LLC, Cheetah
®
15K.7 FC (Fibre Channel) disk drives.
Cheetah 15K.7 FC drives support the Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop and SCSI Fibre Channel Protocol specifications to the
extent described in this manual. The
Fibre Channel Interface Manual
(part number 100293070) describes the general Fibre
Channel Arbitrated Loop characteristics of this and other Seagate Fibre Channel drives. The Self-Encrypting Drive (SED)
Users Guide, part number 100515636 describes the interface, general operation and security features available on SED
drives.
From this point on in this product manual, the reference to Cheetah 15K.7 FC models is referred to as “the drive” unless
references to individuals models are necessary.
Unless otherwise stated, the information in this manual applies to standard and Self-Encrypting Drive models.
Note.
Previous generations of Seagate Self-Encrypting Drive models were called Full Disk Encryption (FDE) models
before a differentiation between drive-based encryption and other forms of encryption was necessary.
Note.
The Self-Encrypting Drive models indicated on the cover of this product manual have provisions for “Security of
Data at Rest” based on the standards defined by the Trusted Computing Group (see www.trustedcomputing-
group.org).
