Bearing in mind that the nomograph should only be
considered accurate to within ± 10%, you should
always calculate conservatively, and allow for the
graph tolerance. In the case of the pump in Figure 73,
we should still be safe even if the pressure required
were 10% greater (1017 PSI).
What if you already own the pump shown in Figure
72? Is there anything that can be done to the job
specifications to make the pump with the smaller
engine work? You could use the smaller TK unit shown
if Figure 72 if you can get an OK to do any of the
following things:

Pump the top of the building at 50 yd

/hr
instead of 60 yd
3
/hr.
•
Pump the top of the building at a 4" slump
instead of 3" (this would still be within
specifications).
•
Remove some of the rubber hose at the end of
the horizontal run.
With job circumstances that did not require a
substantial vertical run, you could also use 6" instead
of 5" diameter pipeline.
