FLOOR APRON CHAIN ADJUSTMENT
Periodically inspect the spring tighteners on the floor apron at the rear of the box. When the spring
tighteners have pushed the rear apron shaft to the rear of the tightener slot, the chain adjustment is
completely used up. The apron chain must be shortened. This is easily done by loosening the spring
tighteners and removing a coupler link on each side of the floor apron. Re-tighten spring tighteners so
springs are compressed to 3-
3/4” to 4”.
When making repairs on the floor apron, always replace the # 73S00-0720 spiral pins (7/
16”x2 1/2”) in
the # 16C20-0511 cast driving sprockets of the floor apron.
CAUTION
– WHEN REPLACING THE 16C20-0511 FIVE TOOTH CAST DRIVING
SPROCKETS ON THE FLOOR APRON, BE SURE THE SPROCKET TEETH ARE
PULLING TOGETHER. IF ONE SPROCKET IS AT A HALF TOOTH AHEAD OF THE
OTHER SPROCKET, TURN ONE SPROCKET HALF TURN.
DRIVE BELT ADJUSTMENT
V-Belt tension is maintained by a spring loaded idler. Belt tension can be increased or decreased by
moving the spring anchor bolt up or down. There are four adjustment holes in the power input
bracket. Normal belt tension is with the tightener spring e
xtended 8” overall. (Length includes spring
hooks.) Adjust spring tension on belt just tight enough to pull a normal load.
CAUTION
– WHEN THE BELT TIGHTENER IDLER PULLEY FORCES THE BELT
DOWN WHERE BELT RUBS ON THE PTO INPUT BRACKET, THE TOP CORNER BELT
IDLER MUST BE MOVED DOWNWARD. BELT THEN WILL RAISE AWAY FROM PTO
INPUT BRACKET.
1. Loosen
5/8” mounting bolt on top corner idler. Do not remove nut, only loosen.
2.
Use 3/8” x 7” adjusting bolt to pull idler pulley downward in slot, until belt is pulled 2-3”
from PTO input bracket.

Re-
tighten 5/8” mounting bolt on tightener idler pulley.
