7.5.1.

Constant voltage operation

Closed  control  circuit system with  direct  feedback  of  the  actual  value  of  the  high  volt-
age output. In constant voltage mode, the set output voltage is held constant by a con-
trol  device,  independent  of  variable  operating  currents  up  to  the  performance  limit  of
the high voltage device.

NOTE this operating mode is typically labeled with U

k

To work in this operating mode the target value I Limit must be set higher than the tar-
get value I max.

The  switch  off  threshold  I

ü

must  take  local  and  operational

conditions  into  consideration,  then  be  determined  and  docu-
mented.

In the case of a non-permitted increase in operating current I

b

check that high voltage is shut down when the threshold value
I

ü

 is reached.

During first inspection check the determined threshold value I

ü

It  is  not  permitted  to  have  a  threshold  value  l

ü

,  where  hazard-

ous  discharges  or  electrical  arc  between  high  voltage  leading
and grounded parts of the system can be calculated on, if the
permitted safety distance is not achieved.
