7.5 Vacuum Filter
Check the filter at least once a week, blow the filter cartridge out (from the inside
to the outside). If the filter cartridge is very dirty, it should be replaced.
Caution
: if the vacuum filter is dirty, the vacuum at the suction pads differs from
that at the warning device.
The vacuum filter must therefore be cleaned regularly in order to ensure safe
operation of the lifting device.
Do not allow dust to enter into the suction opening when you take out the filter
cartridge.
7.6 Leak Test
Danger
Check the device for leaks once per month.
Version with electric vacuum pump:
Place the suction pads on an airtight, smooth surface such as a sheet of metal.
Switch on the pump.
Move the manual slide valve to the position "Grip" to grip the workpiece. Switch
off any suction pads which are not in contact with the workpiece.
Caution
: simply grip the workpiece without lifting it, since it may drop from the
suction pads during the test.
Wait until a vacuum of about
–0.7 bar is reached.
Switch off the pump and check that the vacuum does not drop by more than 0.1
bar within 5 minutes.
If the vacuum pressure drops faster, check:
the suction pads, seals, hoses, connections for damage or leaks,
whether the filter cartridge is dirty or blocked; if so, clean or replace it.
Version with pneumatic vacuum generation:
Place the lifting device on a flat air-tight surface such as a sheet of metal any
apply the vacuum.
A vacuum of at least
–0.,7 bar must be reached.
If this is not the case:
Inspect the suction pad(s), sealing lip(s), hose, hose connectors and unions
for damage or leaks. Replace any defective parts.
Check whether the vacuum filter is blocked or dirty. Clean or replace the filter
cartridge.
7.7 Inspection by a
Qualified Person
Accident prevention rules require a yearly inspection of lifting device and crane by
a qualified person.
