Introduction

The DET-RSDC is a dual-technology radio
device, which contains two sensors: a
magnetically-operated reed switch to detect
when a door or window is opened, and an
accelerometer to detect shock events.
The DET-RSDC operates with any Eaton
or Scantronic 868MHz narrow-band panel,
expander or receiver.
Panels with v6.01 or later firmware can
independently report the alarm status of each
sensor. If required, this feature can be used
to generate a confirmed alarm when both
sensors operate (not recommended for entry
routes), which can reduce installation time
and cost.
Note:  This product must be installed
and maintained only by qualified service
personnel.
Note: Make sure you follow the mounting
instructions to avoid false alarms.

Learn the sensor

1. Take the DET-RSDC to a keypad.
2. Remove the cover (see Fig. 2).
3. Make sure that the MODE link is removed

(see Fig. 3).

4. Fit the LED link (to enable the front LED and

ease testing).

5. Fit the battery. Ensure correct polarity.
6. Use the Installer menu to add a new

detector, then press and release the tamper
switch when prompted*.

*Some previous-generation products use
infra-red (not radio) learn. In these cases,
direct the DET-RSDC LED at the learn-in sensor
of the receiver (LED link must be fitted).

Mount the sensor and magnet

See Fig. 4 to Fig 7.
Note:

DO NOT mount the sensor on the moving
part of the door or window. Mount vertically
on the fixed frame.

DO NOT mount the sensor on the hinged
side.

Spacers can be mounted behind the magnet
or sensor, but note that this may reduce the
sensitivity of shock detection.

The sensor and magnet can be positioned
face-to-face, providing:

The arrows on the sensor and magnet
backplates align.

The maximum separation between
the faces is no more than 10mm when
mounting on metal surfaces, or no more
than 15mm when mounting on non-metal
surfaces.

Radio performance

Do not mount the sensor:

Horizontally or upside down.

Near the floor.

Close to or on large metal structures.

Closer than 1m to mains wiring or metal
pipes.

Next to electronic equipment, such as
computers, photocopiers and other radio
equipment.

Test the sensor

Test the operation of the device. The LED (if
enabled) flashes when either sensor activates.
After testing, consider removing the LED link
to enhance security and prolong battery life.
It is recommended that you carry out shock
tests while in calibration mode (see below), as
you can both check and adjust sensitivity.
For shock testing, use an appropriate tool to
strike the extremities of the protected area.
Range is dependent on the mounting surface
and testing is essential.

Calibration mode

To check and adjust the shock sensor:
1. Enter the Installer menu.
2. Open the DET-RSDC, then press and release

the tamper switch five times within three
seconds to activate calibration mode.
A double long flash of the LED indicates
that calibration mode has started (even if
the LED link is not fitted). Calibration mode
times out after four minutes.

3. Close the cover, and test operation:

1 flash = increase sensitivity.
2 flashes = sensitivity correct.
3 flashes = decrease sensitivity.

4. If sensitivity needs to be adjusted, open the

cover and turn SENS clockwise to increase
sensitivity, or anticlockwise to decrease
sensitivity.

Note: Pressing and releasing the tamper
switch five times deactivates calibration mode
(indicated by a single long flash of the LED).
