6.2 Climbing UP stairs
1.
Set the adjustable handle to the correct height
(see 5.1.1 and 4.3)
2.
Switch
on the Liftkar PT with the main switch
(if it
is not already switched on).
3.
Set
speed selector switch to the lowest speed
(I).
4.
Tilt
the Liftkar PT towards you until it is balanced.
In the balanced position you only need a slight
pressure to rock the stairclimber forwards or
backwards.
Note 1:
hold the crossbar with one hand, and the left
or right handle next to the UP/DOWN switch with the
hand that operates the switch. Normally right-handed
operators operate the UP/DOWN switch with their
right hand and have their left hand on the crossbar.
For left-handed operators it is usually the other way
round. (photo 1)
5.
Move
backwards to the stairs and stand on the
second or third step, or stand with one foot on
the second step and the other on the third step.
Stand at a slight angle so that you can support
the crossbar against the side of your body
(photo 2)
.
The main wheels of the climber unit
must be touching the bottom step!
6.
Now
press on the UP/DOWN switch
(on the
arrow pointing towards the stairs, i.e. towards
you)
. Make sure that you have one hand on the
crossbar and the other hand free to operate the
switch.
(You only need to press one of the
switches.)
