Troubleshooting
If no connection to the box can be established, even if the box is connected directly to a net-
worked computer using a network cable:
•
The computer may not yet have been allocated an IP address by the box.
°
Windows XP/2000: Click “Start”, then “Run”. Type “cmd”, then press “Enter”. Type
“ipconfig /renew”, then press “Enter”. Close the window and try to connect to the box
again.
°
Windows 98/ME: Click “Start”, then “Run”. Type “command”, then press “Enter”.
Type “ipconfig /renew_all”, then press “Enter”. Close the window and try to connect
to the box again.
If the FTP server is correctly configured, but you cannot connect to the FTP server from a com-
puter with internet access:
•
The FTP server’s internet connection must have a fixed IP address. This is the IP address
entered in the browser when connecting to the server. (See page 7). Contact your Internet
service provider if you wish to order a fixed IP address.
•
If the box is connected to a network via a router, the router must be configured to forward
incoming internet traffic on port 21 to the IP address of the box on the local area network.
See the router manual for more information.
